SCHOOL CARNIVALS & SAPSASA INFORMATION

At the start of each year, students in Year 4-6 have the opportunity to nominate their interest to compete in a variety of School Sport SA and SAPSASA knockout sports and carnivals that are on offer throughout the year. Sign-up sheets are available early in Term 1 for students to nominate their interest.

Knockout Sports and Carnivals

Knockout sports and carnivals on offer for Year 5/6 students include: soccer (girls and boys), netball (girls), football (girls and boys), cricket (girls and boys), basketball (girls and boys), lacrosse (girls and boys) and athletics (girls and boys).

Knockout sports and carnivals on offer for Year 4 students include: lacrosse (girls and boys), tennis (girls and boys) and athletics (girls and boys).

Depending on numbers, students may need to trial to be selected in their nominated sport. If selected, students must commit to attend trainings in the lead up to the event, before/after school or during play times.

Swimming and Cross Country

Year 4-6 students can nominate to compete in individual SAPSASA sports, including swimming and cross country.

Athletics

During PE lessons, Year 4-6 students will have the opportunity to qualify in their age group for the school athletics team, which will compete at the annual North Adelaide Athletics Day. Events on offer include: shot put, discus, high jump, long jump, 100m, 200m, 800m and 100m-relay. Students who win their event at the North Adelaide Athletics Day are invited to compete at the State Day Finals.

NORTH ADELAIDE SAPSASA DISTRICT TEAMS

The following information is only for Year 5/6 students who wish to nominate to trial for selection in the North Adelaide District Teams (this is separate to the NPS SAPSASA teams). In Term 1, nominations open to students via a QR code, which is emailed to the school community.

For boys AFL, boys soccer and girls netball, schools are required to nominate their strongest five participants for these sports, as the numbers of students trialling in these sports are large. Nominated students will then be directed to register via a QR code or link provided to them by the school.

The school will pass on all relevant trial information for each sport throughout the year to the nominated students. Students who have not nominated online before the trials will not be eligible to attend trials. This is to ensure supervision ratios are maintained for a safe environment.

Nomination process:

  1. Nominate your child for a sport via the QR code
  2. Receive email confirmation
  3. Attend 3 trials – the school will pass on trial information to relevant students for each sport.
  4. If selected, you will receive further details about the carnival, trainings and cost ($80-$100).
